Summary

Last year Russell appeared in 44 games with the Admirals as a rookie. The Surrey, B.C. native scored 15 goals and added eight assists (23 points) before being called up to the Milwaukee Admirals (IHL). Russell spent 31 contests with Milwaukee and recorded six points (3 goals, 3 assists).
Russell came to Hampton Roads after a stellar junior hockey career with the Portland Winter Hawks (WHL). In 1997-98, he helped propel his team to the Memorial Cup Championship, the most cherished and prestigious Canadian Junior Hockey Championship. He played in 72 games with Portland and scored 32 goals along with 43 assists (75 points) and was the only player to skate in all 72 games for the Winter Hawks in the regular season. In 16 playoffs games en route to the Memorial Cup Championship, Russell recorded 10 goals and six assists (16 points).
This year Russell attended the Nashville Predators and Milwaukee Admirals (IHL) training camps.
